major disapointment
Most of you don't know why I'm in a Volvo now... let's just leave it at two BMW X3 buy-backs and really bad service.
Well, I finally get to pick up my S60 on Friday after 8 days at the shop for some various rattles and a whole new headliner cause it doesn't fit right.
Well, as I'm transferring article from the loaner to my car, I notice a 4" long and very thick PEN mark across my front passenger seat and then also notice how dirty my previously clean leather has become.
I show the tech and they take it back to clean it up... about ten minutes later the Service Manager comes out and say, sorry we ruined the seat cushion trying to clean it, but we can have our leather guy recover it for you..... Now I only have 1,481 miles on this thing and it's 4 months old. I said I need my car for the weekend and will schedule to have it fixed next week. So really disappointed that I'm having the same quality control issues with my repairs as I had at the BMW dealer, I start to drive home.... I make it three blocks and the plastic cover for the rain sensor behind the mirror falls off into my lap.
I turn around and take it right back and leave it so they can fix it.
Now tonight, I look over the work order and realize they put 72 miles on my car while it was there. SEVENTY TWO?! WHAT COULD HAVE NEEDED 72 miles worth of test driving while it was there to replace a headliner and a couple dash rattles?!
Any one have any thoughts, other than my worst fear that someone was joy-riding in my car for the week that it was there?

I could understand 5-10 miles, but 72 miles? there is just no way, especially were the dealer is located, it's all surface streets. And they heard the rattle on the drive along we did.
Warranty or not, I only bring my cars back to a dealer for service if it's something I can't fix or is an extremely expensive warranty-covered item. Many dealer service departments are rarelyhonest oraccountable for any of the mistakes they make, and generally they can't be trusted to diagnose a problem correctly or do thework right the first time. These nightmare service results are all too common these days...
Perhaps you can post where you live. I can come up with the better dealers in your area.
If you live is an area with only one dealer and none otherclose by, I feel for you.
If that happend to me the 1st thing I would do is DEMAND a NEW seat cushion, a dyed one on a car with 1100, 2000miles or whatever milesis UNacceptable!
THEY screwed it up, make THEM replace it, not dye it
INSIST or call Volvo
There are many good Volvo service departments but there are also many that are HORRIBLE.
Unfortunately this is Volvos biggest issue, not too many good dealers and good service departments.
Fortunately mine is a mile from my home and has probably one of if not THE best service department in the US!
If that were not the case I probably would be driving other cars
