my tires absolutely suck s60 2.5t awd arghhh
I bought my wife a new 2004 volvo s60 awd turbo in 2004 - I am so sick and tired of replaceing tires and rims that I've had it. This car has the thor rims with pirelli P6 235/45/17. I've already replaced 3 tires and 1 rim because of slight pothole hits and now i need to replace 3 more tires because of bubbles and cuts from the road. This is the first time in my 50 years here that I've ever had tire problems at all. What other tire should I get because these have to go, they suck and they are expensive. Perhaps its the low profile, but can someone please tell me what I should get and as soon as possible... Should volvo and or pirelli have covered these because the car was purchased new?

They should have BUT WON'T.
It is the Low profile tires. That is pretty common on these cars.
I know alot of people that have put Kuhmo tires on their cars(Not Volvo's) but low profile tires 17's or 18's and haven't has many problems with bubbles. Rims maybe because they are such a low profile tire though.
If you Really wanted to you could go to 16's much higher of a profile.

I know they are not speed rated like some of the other tires you may look at. But, first of all, how fast do you really drive. If you are under 120 mph then a speed rated tire is not really needed. That being said, I have the Michelin Hydroedge on my 02 S60. I'm running the 205 55/R 16's. They handle great, especially in wet weather. I also have them on my daughters car and the LT M&S on my 96 Chevy Tahoe. The ones on the Tahoe have 42K miles on them and there is still over half of the tread left. I have had such good luck with the Michelins that I wont put anything else on any of my vehicles.

A 16" tire will ride better and have less of a chance of getting a bubble when you hit a pot hole. I replaced two tires on my old car that had 17" tires. However, it didn't stop me from getting my new Volvo s60 with the sports package and 17" tires.

Perhaps I a little late to the party.
Also have Thor wheel package with Pirelli 17".
Not any real problems at 37,500 miles. Kept pressure at 38 psi.
Need new tires and researched quite a bit finally selecting Yokohama Avid S4.
Just installed so have no good feedback yet, but initial impression is good.
