Default Need procedure for removal and replacement of s60 alternator. Anyone done it?

I searched for this specifically because although there seems to be numerous posts on replacing the serpentine drive belt, none of those specifically show how to access and remove the alternator for replacement. I though that this should be straightforward, probably involving removal of the power steering pump and hoses, and then just unbolting the thing, UNTIL....

I went to a dismantling yard and saw two dismantlers just throw in the towel after trying to get the alternator out of an '01 s60. They tried for over an hour to figure out how to get it out of there. Book labor time is < 1.5 for R&R of an alternator on one of these cars, so there must be a trick of the trade or special procedure for this.

So, i guess this is a question for a tech. How do you do this?

Default Thanks, but this is for non-turbo. I have an AWD 2.5T

it looks like that turbo tube would get in the way. Do I need to remove it to get the alt out? How much work is that?

It is quite simple. Really the whole alternator job is quick. I did mine in 2 hours start to finish.
