drivin along..then the light comes on and says "TRANSMISSION SERVICE REQUIRED" the transmission sucks anyways, it has a horrible hard downshift and stuff, whats this light mean, what should i do? how much will it cost. thank you

 

The light means there is codes in the transmission computer. You need to have the codes pulled first to know which direction to go in.

 

can auto zone or checker auto get the codes?

 

actually i had the check engine light on also so i took it in, i got the reading P0810 which is the voltage signal from the cluch position sensor is reading a clutch position control error, then P0422 i think is the catalytic converter, i dont not drive a manual so that clutch one threw me off. and to answer my own question they dont check the transmission server light

 

It might translate to a speed sensor code or something like that.
You need to find someone that can read the tranny codes.
