Default Oil on driver side floor

Hello,
newbie here. I've own a number of Volvo's and currently have a 2001 S60.
Yes I had to install a new transmission.....ouch. My issue right now is when I remove my floor mat driver side, there's an oily or hydraulic substance on and in the carpet. A fair amount of it too mostly left side but has spread out. Push down with your thumb on the carpet and it oozes up. Smells like oil, brake fluid,.....something.
Any thoughts are appreciated. I have a mechanic but am never opposed to doing some of the work myself, in this economy.
thanks for this forum!

More than likely it's coolant from a leaky heater core or coupling o-rings at the core. Check your coolant reservoir level before you overheat.

Going by your description, my guess is the brake master cylinder is leaking into the booster and leaking at the brake pedal. Is the brake fluid low?

Ed, you were exactly right! Heater core was leaking and slow enough to just migrate under the floor mat so it wasn't seen right away. Thanks so much!
If it's not too big of job, I may tackle it myself. I saw some instructions for an S70, but not sure if it's close enough to the S60. Any thoughts. Hopefully don't have to remove the whole dash.......yuk
thanks for all your help! Great forum.
