Just took my car in to get wheels road-force balanced. The shop just called and told me that they noticed significantly more wear on the passenger side rear brake pads.

I've read reports of similar issues on some other forums. But the thing is there's no way this should be normal. We have e-brakes on BOTH rear brakes so it doesn't make sense that only one would wear out faster, fail, etc.

In my case, the shop claims that the brake caliper in question won't retract at all, even after the parking brake motor mechanism was retracted. So this is more than just the e-brake wearing out a pad.

Bummer. I hate not being able to tinker with my car in the evening. She's stuck at the shop until tomorrow now.

This is for a 2011 S60 T6 AWD, so potentially a P3 issue OR an any-Volvo-with-electric-parking-brakes issue.

 

I haven't seen more issues with one side vs. the other. However, the inner pads usually wear out before the outer on the P3s.
