Default Peeling Trim?

I just bought a 2003 S60 2.4T and I just noticed if you look real close, the center plastic console in front of the armrest seem to be peeling!? Interior is beige/taupe and under the peel it looks similar, but a little darker. Is it possible the dealer used some of that vinyl "Dye" stuff, or do all Volvos do this? Seems weird as the plastic console should be solid plastic.

All Volvo's do that.
The factory uses like a rubbery spray on then.

The next obvious question is WHY? If they all peel, then stop spraying! Seems like plain old plastic would last longer, eliminate a manufacturing step, and probably save money.

My 2002 s60 is peeling on the black trim around the door handles in the interior. I don't know what to do its driving me bonkers. I could peel it off myself but I would just make a mess and it would take forever!!! Is there somewhere I can get a replacement of that piece or would I have to buy the entire door handle. Its driving me bonkers!
