XC 90 Hood Paint Peeling
I'm not 100% positive but I believe my 2005 XC90 hood has been repainted. I purchased the car new from a VOLVO dealer-brand new-off the lot. Hood has started to peel in several spots through the clear coat. I even paid xtra for some kind of protecting seal. The dealer said it looked like it had been repainted! Seemed to doubt I was being truthful. I am confused-I am the original owner and have not had it painted. Can the hood be repainted and match the factory paint.? Does a repainted hood effect value? Any thoughts would be appreciated. Thanks
Clearcoat will peel if it has not been applied to specification at the factory.
Ask the dealer to request the individual measurements of the clearcoat layer from the automaker (Not the Total Thickness Layer).
Typically, this data exists in electronic databases and is easy to retrieve.
Obtaining this data will eliminate that it was a problem from the factory.
Good Luck!
