Default Performance Upgrades?

I have a 2004 S60R 6spd man. IPD sells a Turbo Control Valve, Ram Air thru the fog light, and ECU flash upgrade.

What's the reliability factor v. gains with these products? Will I see noticable gains with just the ram air and contol valve?

With the Ram air and control valve No gain in Performance. Both of these are for when you are looking to increase the performance as the stock parts will burn out faster. The Turbo control value regulates the Boost flow and with out getting a ECU tune stock is fine,This goes for the Ram air as well it will for sure make the turbo run cooler but again that for when you Tune the car and its pushing a added 30hp and 5-8 PSI increase in Boost .But that said getting a tune is a significant increase in the car..Take a look at company's like
www.vivaperformance.com
www.eurosporttuning.ca
www.elevatecars.com
and of course IPD.I think IPD is the best hands down.Amazing costumer service and Top notch products They are like no company i have ever bought from.

The only thing I can comment on is on the IPD ECU upgrade. I recently did it on my 2004 s60 2.5T and it transformed the car. I was pretty suspicious about the gain they were claiming I would get with the ECU upgrade but it exceeded my expectation. I went from an OK car to drive to a very nice car to drive. I have own several bimmers including recently a BMW X5 V8 286hp which I loved to drive but was a gas guzzler so I sold it. I must say that with the ECU upgrade my S60 gives me driving feeling very similar to what I got with the bimmer but with an average of 22mpg instead of 14.

No i did not change the exhaust. When I asked IPD they said an exhaust upgrade in my case was not necessary since my 2004 2.5T already had the same exhaust diameter as the T5 model and that the gain would be close to all of the 245 HP (over 208HP stock) and 310 lbft that stage 1 package delivers. Based on the significant improvement I got they were right.

The RKelly/iPd Ram air will relieve the negative pressure in the air box even on an other wise stock car helping the turbo breath a tad better.
Like said above the HD TCV will likely not net you any gains unless your stocker is failing already. It is designed to last longer and be more stable then it's OEM counter part.

Best bang for the buck mod for the R's IMO is iPd's Track Spec Sway Bars with HD EndLinks.

If you really want to go the with power mods you will feel, then spend the money for iPd's Stage II tune with 3" downpipe and exhaust. You will not regret it one bit at all.

The R Kelly mod is a RIP OFF. They want something like $125 for something you could make from using items from HOME DEPOT and LOWES for probably under $30. Sorry but this mod is not worth the price they are asking.

Take a look at what they use for it and then go to LOWES or HOME DEPOT and buy the parts to do it yourself for a ton less.
