Default Position light bulb failure?? S60 2001

Hey fellows,
Does anyone know the cause of this message in the dashboard display? And/or how do you reset it/make it go away?. I bought this car used and do not have the owners' manual. I doubt this would be in the manual though. This message kept coming on but I discovered that by opening the trunk and then shutting it with a bit of extra force, the message would disappear. This worked for a while but now it doesn't. All all my interior and exterior lights are working fine. Please help!!
Thank you and God bless.

Position lights are in the tail light assembly. You can get to it by going through the trunk. There is a cover that folds down an gives you access to the tail lights. The light holders just pop out and this gives you access to the bulbs. If the Position Light Failure goes off when you slam the trunk then the lights are probably not burned out. If they aren't, go to Autozone and get a packet of light bulb grease $1.29. Smear some on each bulb and reinsert. If they are burned out then pick up some new bulbs while you are getting the bulb grease and grease and reinstall. I was going through position bulbs rather quickly until I started using the bulb grease and they last much longer. In fact I don't remember the last time I had one burn out.

Position lights can also be in the front. BTW, here is a link to a manual.

This light recently lit up on the wifes 2002 S60 and she read that slamming the trunk worked for getting the light to stop posting the warning on the dash and it worked.

Hey winebrat,
If it the position light message keeps coming on, you may want to check every single light bulb (tailights) because some of them are double and you can't tell if one is blown up just by looking from the outside with the lights on.Good luck.

Also the position light indicator has been known to come on when the(rear) bulbs are getting week. Used to see in at the dealership all the time. I would generally replace all therearbulbs at once so they are all new atonce, and the customer would leave happy, usually more than willing to pay for all new bulbs so they wouldnt have to come back a few months later for another bulb or two.
