Default Power Seat Module, need software?

2007 S60 2.5T. Driver side power seat works intermittently but when it does work, it works perfectly for about 30 seconds and then dies. Passenger seat works normally at all times.

I checked all fuses, cleaned the tracks, cleaned all the connections to the Power Seat Module and even took apart the control panel and cleaned that, but the problem persists. Tested the connections going in to the PSM and there is current going in.

I discovered though that when I unplug and replug the grey connector (at far right in photo with probe pointing at it), the seat will work as normal for about 30 seconds and shut off. I did this about 10 times and it worked every time.

So, my question is, do I need both a new PSM and software reset by the dealer or is it just a software issue? What can I expect to pay for the software update?

Thanks very much for any assistance.

Default Power seat swap with side effects

Hi, I have the same issue with powerseats swapped from 2006 S80 to 2004 XC70. They work for about 30 seconds upon power on (key-1), than die.

I found the VO wire power off/on is resetting the PSM to the same cycle. I can make a workaround by adding a small switch in this line connecting to main power, but obviously that is not the solution.
The XC70 does not provide the same harness, hence I converted the wiring accept for the Violet and Black wire that share one connector taking them to the seat Green/Red and Black/white, see picture.
From a V70 wiring diagram I learned the Violet is likely EXT.D1 powering the PSM separately from the main power from a relay activated by the CEM. The harness wire color is VO/W, but this function is not connected to my original XC70 seat and cannot be found in the harness.

My question is, how to overcome this issue of working only 30Sec? I can pull an additional wire from somewhere else if only I know where to find EXT.D1 location in my 2004 XC70. WOuld it work, or does it reprogramming as asked by previous question?

Anyone?

Note the Violet and Black wire

I have only replaced the seat module in one car - with a new one. The new one required a software download (using VIDA) to make it work correctly. I don't know if it is possible to "reprogram" a used module to work.
