Default Power Steering Fluid

Hey everyone:

I got a 2002 S60 2.4t which needs a power steering fluid top off. The cap says used specified fluid only which I know is the synthetic green colored fluid that Volvo sells in their parts department for an arm and a leg.

Anybody use the generic power steering fluid and work just fine? I am inclined to get the Volvo fluid to be on the safe side, but wanted to hear some of your opinions/past experiences first.

Read some about it online somewhat and it seems most stick with the synthetic fluid to avoid fluid foaming.

Thanks in advance for a response.

Thanks for directing me to the proper thread.

Where do they sell this fluid? I checked at my local Advance Auto Parts, and they don't carry it.
