Default Rear door glass replacement

Over in a V70 forum volsla noted the dearth of online information for the replacement of door glass and posted a great step-by-step guide with pictures. The post is here.

I appreciated the earlier work. As I was replacing the window on my 2006 S60 I found a significant difference in the orientation of the glass when inserting into the door. With the S60, the front of the window is the leading edge going down through the slot into the door. That puts the attaching bracket toward the rear of the door. And the glass is slide in from the outside of the window frame which, again, is different from the V70 instructions. Once in the door, the glass could be rotated with a little maneuvering. With this change I was able to insert and attach the glass without removing any other parts inside the door.

One other warning I'd give from my experience is to be careful to lift out the outer rubber seal strip working as evenly as possible along the entire width. I pulled the rear first and created a slight bend in the metal strips embedded within the seal. There seem to be multiple internal strips so each time I would correct one curve another would appear. I eventually got it straight enough that it would stay in place when re-inserted. But next time I will know to take more time for an even removal.

Default An additional helpful hint

A heat gun (on a low setting) was very helpful on the "removable" glue to remove and reseal the foam sound barrier. I was working in 50° F (if that). Once I grabbed the heat gun removal and replacement of the foam material was a simple operation.
