Rear View Mirror Tilt Function

Recently became the first in my neighborhood to get a new S60...so I don't have anyone here to compare this issue with. Does anyone else find that the rear view mirror tilt function when reversing is useless? The mirrors both turn in before tilting down and basically just show you the side of the car and the street/curb a few inches from the rear tires. My wife's Acura has the same feature but they just tilt straight down and give you a good view of the area around the car. I asked the Volvo tech and he said that is the way they work on all the new Volvo's. Can anyone confirm or refute that statement? As-is, the tilt function isn't useful at all.
Thanks!

I would strongly disagree that the reverse tilt mirror function is useless. I back into a space every day at work that is right next to a curb on the passenger side. I want to get as close to that curb as possible because the spaces are tight. I set the passenger side mirror to tilt so I can see the curb as I back into the space. This lets me get within an inch or two of the curb without scraping my wheels or tires.
Now, if your space is so tight on both sides that you need both mirrors to tilt, you would probably be better off parking elsewhere

The function of the tilt mirror isn't what I'm complaining about...I get what it is for. I like the feature if it actually works well. I'm saying that the way it is implemented is a poor design. It turns so far in that you don't see the curb until you practically hit it, rather than being able to visualize it as you back into it. I was trying to ask if everyone else's turn in that far or if it was just mine.
