Default s-60 Oil consumption between changes

I am a new member and love this forum. No idea why it took me so long to sign up.......

I have a 2005 s-60 that appears to go through oil between changes. I use 5w-30 or 10w-30 oil and it is changed with the filter between 3-4,000 miles. There is 71k on the engine.

I do not smell any oil and I do not see any blue puffs either I pulled the plugs and they were not oily, just gray.

Thoughts?

How much oil does it go through? Do you have a number so we could at least get an idea?

That's not uncommon or out of line for short trips/ around town use.

Default s60 oil consumption

Ed- Is it due to cold running /blowing by the rings? Someone recommended seafoam in the crankcase/manifold/gas.

Anyoneone ever heard of this approach and does it work?

Thanks!
