Newer member seeking some advice:
I'm deciding between 2013 or 2014
Each with about 30k on the odometer.

I'm a bit torn due to the digital display on the 2014. I tend to keep my cars for >100 to >200k and want something reliable top to bottom. Seems to me the digital display, appealing as it may be in some respects, could spell expensive problems down the road.
Also -- indeed primarily -- looking for any seasoned s60 owners' thoughts on these two models in terms of fewest trips to the garage. I have seen the great thread looking at reliability over the years but am looking here for some further insight by owners.

I'm not sure about your concern with the dash. If it fails on either car, it won't be cheap.

What engine is in the cars?

 

It's a T5 in each case.

 

That engine has been around a while and is pretty reliable.

 

Looking at about $21k for the 2013 with 30,000 miles on the odo. Pre-certified and good until 2020. Love the car.
