I have a 2012 S60 and there are a few annoying features that I wanted to list out in case there is a simple fix that I don't know of.

1. If I am playing the audio system and I hit the mute button, the next time I turn the car on, the audio system comes on. It would be nice if the car keeps it on mute till I unmute the volume. I'm just curious if the newer models have the same annoying feature? Note one workaround is to turn the volume all the way down but it is a bit more tedious.

2. When the temperature is cold (don't remember the cutoff temperature), the rear defroster comes on even though it may not be needed. I have to manually turn it off each time I start the car and don't need it.

3. When using the front windshield defroster, the AC light always comes on. In lower temperatures, can this even damage the AC? I understand the AC is needed to dehumidify the windshield but if it's 0 F, is it really a good idea to have the AC on automatically?

 

Re: #3 Any time the defroster is used the AC is activated. All newer cars do this. The dryer air does a better job of defrosting.
