Default s60 cruise blues

I have a 2001 s60 cruise works sometimes when you first start the car and it works 20 30 miles then stops if the cruise lamp goes out on its own you cant get it on unless you cycle the key It may be brake position sensor does anyone have a test for this sensor ohms test etc... or ??? or any other sugestions. It dosent set any codes I do have a vida scanner and nothing ?? I am quite competent as a mechanic been doing this for 35 years now just not on Volvo so put it out there and I will try it Thanks

ETM is an integral part of the cruise control and they were problematic on this year so the obvious question is do you have any ETM issues? Has the ETM been replaced and if so with what? There are a few aftermarket options out there and I'm not sure they 'play well' with the other modules. If the SW in the ETM and ECM are incompatible then that might be the root cause. If you have VIDA then monitor the ECM information for the ETM and see if anything kicks off. You should also be able to see if cruise is allowed or not

etm has been replaced, is good and also clean, it is a volvo part not aftermarket. VIDA unit says cruse is allowed also shows no faults unit works fine at first and fails after 30 to 40 mi just cycle the key and it works fine again. still looking for a test on the brake position sensor if anyone knows of one, ohms resistance or ???

for what its worth brake sensor voltage is 1.25 depressed 2.5v relaxed and 3.75 v faulted or in an open state and yes my sensor was failing after replacement cruse works fine it would open for a split second and fault the cruise and not set a code found the problem with vida hooked up for some time when driving and I mean it failed for a split second almost untraceable
