Default S60 R brakes on T5?

I have a 2002 S 60 T5 (88K) and would like to replace current brakes (they're due) and put S60R brake components on it. Is it possible?

It can't be done. The S60R has bigger brake pads than the T5.

I would look for a big brake upgrade (aftermarket) designed for the T5. To buy the Volvo R's components would cost way more than 2 grand. I think one from caliper is over $700 new.

Not sure if it can be done on a T5 with R brakes.

Yep.
The caliper use to cost like $500, but now they are at $700. I haveseen them for sale on turbobricks for ~$500.
But all in all it would cost less to go aftermarket, but that is still veryexspensive.
You can always look through junkyards and see if they have them.

If you are looking for a better braking system...Try stage 1 or2 upgrades first.
I would get someceramic pads and some slotted rotors and see if you like that.
Then if you want more, upgrade the calipers througha BBK.

Not to beat a dead horse, but if you "could" get Type-R front calipers for less than $200/set to fit on a '01 S60T5, what else would you need to make them work?

thanks!

The front and rear calipers off the S60/V70R's will work on any S60. I've seen them going on VS and SS for roughly $400 for a used set.
You'll need to trim the dust shield on the back of the rotor to fit them, but it's been done by Chilled Man on his S60 T5 and AthruC on his XC70.

I'll see if I can find the threads..

How to mount the calipers..

you can't just bolt on the calipers and use the existing smaller rotors until you move up to the 330mm ones can you?

As for cost, I guess picking up a set of front R calipers for $150/ set is a good price then

That's correct, You'll need the 330mm rotors to go with the calipers.

Yes, $150 for the pair is indeed a great price. Lol

If you lok at Ebay- Erie Volvo from time to time sell R rotors and calipers... To get every thing to fit you need 17"+ Volvo rims or they will not fit behind the rim.. You also need the carrier bracket from the R that goes with the Caliper >> IPD and Viva sell new kits that you can look at to see whats needed>>
