Hello everyone! I have a strange problem with the trunk lid . The car is volvo s60 year 2001.
here is the problem:
The trunk lid doesnt open with the lock. It stays locked if i try to open it. (The remote opening is working properly ) the strangest part is that the lid is opening alone when im turning on or turning off my headlight and taillight switch. So i have to close it everytime when i use the switch. Im looking for solution for this problem !

The wire harness going to the trunk lid has to bend at a very sharp angle and sometimes the wires break in the harness - possibly two wires are rubbing together - power to tag lights and trunk release. I've replace several of those harnesses for broken wires - but never for swapped functions, but it's possible.

To test if the trunk release wires are crossed with the tag lights - remove fuse #31 on the end of the dash for the tag lights (and other things) and see if it still opens at the wrong time. The trunk release button shares a small sub-harness with the tag lights, maybe the wires are damaged there and not in the hinge.

 

I have a similar problem but for now mine seems to be working. Volvo wanted $450.+ to put a new one in so i said forget it.. If it won't lock with the Fob key i simply put it in the latch on the trunk and turn clockwise.
