hi just looking for some information iv got a 2002 s60 2.0t just recently bought with 86,000 mile on clock and was sent for a service so i had its 96,000 mile service done cam belt, filters, oil, engine flushed, plugs thought this would clear the problem butitsstill got an uneven idle the revs aren't dropping it just runs smooth then a little rough and so on then occasionally is feels as if its going to stall then recovers needle on rev counter never moves. so today i decided to have a look around the engine checking levels and noticedthe smell of petrol from the oil filler cap no white gunk just a little condensationon the filler cap please tell me straight just how bad could it be. thanks

The fuel smellat the cap may be that all the engine flush wasn't drained. That stuff is basically kerosene.

The idle problem can be evap leak, injector, electrical etc. Best to have the codes checked.

 

thank you i shall get the codes checked as soon as i get chance hopefully is something easy to solve and if needs be i'll have the oil changed

I wouldthink it isAIR FLOW METER,it is a common problem ins60 2.0 T.
Faulty ignition coil can causeunevenrevs too,but I would check air flow meter first.

 

well i got it sorted took it to the main dealers they cleaned the throttle housing and breathe valveand updated ecu software seems fine engines not stumbling took it to my local independant just listened to engine said it sounded fine so i took it to harrets volvo at wakefieldthey took it for an afternoon and fixed it cost me £150 which was well worth it because it was really doing my head in and there customer service was super so it'll be going back there for it's nextservice.
