I have a 2001 S60 2.4T and I am getting messages through the message center that read "Performance Reduced" and "Service Engine System Urgent" Any thoughts as to what that could be?

 

It could be 100 or more different things that can set those messages.

You need to have the codes read out of the car.

 

I had the same problem a long time ago when I was driving through a dust storm, the car fix by itself after a couple of days; I took the car to the shop and it had stored two codes (sorry I don't remeber the numbers), the mechanic told me that the codes were set due to the amount of air getting into the engine was smaller than the theorical one. He also told me that since it's not related to the emmision system I didn't get such message. The air filter was fine I had changed it a week before the problem occured and it looked fine after the issue. By the way I have a 01 S60 2,4T
