I was on my way to have my O2 sensors fitted and my car stalled and came to a stop, with the same message. The guys came out, pulled and reinserted a few fusses and I was able to drive the car to the workshop. Their clever pc then diagnosed that my Mass Air Flow Meter was stuffed and parts have come back with a cost of just under a grand to have it replaced. At this rate I think I might just scrap the car and sell all the serviceable bits…..if anyone is stupid enough to hold onto a S80 T6.

Sorry, I am really annoyed and terribly disappointed in what I thought was a great product, produced by a very reliable name. Maybe in a few days, once I have forgotten about how much this car has cost me in the two weeks I have owned it, I might have something nice to say about the S80 T6 [:@]

It should still clear it unless the code is stored in the trans module or in the Central electronic module(CEM)
Then you might have to take it to the dealer to get it cleared.

Is it a 1999 S80 T6? That was the first year Volvo made that car, and the fact that the electronics system is more complicated than a space ship and it's a twin turbo don't help the maintenance costs. Whenever you purchase a 1st year model of a car, you are almost guaranteed alot of problems. If it is a later model, I'd be surprised that it had so many problems...unless you drive it as a commuter vehicle.

On pulling the Mass Airflow Sensor it turned out that a little diode which sits exposed and only held in place by a small bracket and its wires was sucked into the engine. I was hoping that Tech would be able to give me details of the diode that I might be able to replace that, rather than the whole thing.

PLS HELP TECH !!!

The Volvo mechanic, who is fast becoming an old acquaintance and close friend of mine, made a plan. He tried a used S60 Mass Airflow Sensor which works fine. It cost me half the price and a case of beer. Now I know that I am probably becoming a bit bothersome Tech, but your input on whether I am being penny wise pound foolish would be greatly appreciated.

Oh and thanks for the input JCVolvo.........it’s a 2001 S80 T6 with about 85000 miles on the clock, a full service history in “mint conditionâ€..hehe. Not sure what you mean by commute with it, but if you mean to work and back, that was the intention.

If it runs good and no check engine light then you should be fine.
Did it come off of a turbo S60?
