Strange noise from the front
2002 S60 with about 165,000 miles.
Recently, the car started making a screeching sound when making a tight right hand turn, as when turning into a driveway or parking spot. The odd thing is that it doesn't do it all the time.
Driving from my house to the supermarket (2 miles) no sceeching. Driving from my house to work (10 miles) screeching. It doesn't happen turning at intersections or while driving down the road. Only on really tight turns.
Sounds like it is coming from left front so I pulled the left front wheel but didn't see anything.
My mechanic was putting in a new rear sway bar so I asked him to look but he couldn't find anything that obvious.
Any thoughts?
Thanks.

Front shocks are about 18 months old. I'd have to check the records but my mechanic also replaces something to with the springs but not the springs themselves.
