Timing Belt on 03 s60 w/ 66k miles
I know there are lots of threads on the timing belt replacement. The maintenance chart suggests replace at 105k miles, or 7 years. As you can see, I qualify based on car age. I know the gamble with having it break, do I take the plunge and get it replaced? I am not a DIY for something like this.

That famous San Franciso philosopher, Harry Callahan, answered your question this way.
"You've got to ask yourself a question. 'Do I feel lucky?' Well, do you, punk?"
Given the $500 or so to replace versus the thousands to fix the valves, maybe the pistons, and who knows what else if the timing belt snaps, I'd do it.

Its not the Belt thats breaks it the tensioner and Pulley that fail. This is the reason for the replacement. If you do it or have it done change your Water Pump with it. It runs on the timming belt and if it goes you will have to pay for it twice. Great place to buy the Kit http://www.fcpgroton.com/category-ex...872/by_year/53 This is a doable job your self if you have done a timing belt before.
