What the hell has happened to the 2008/2009 S60 range?? My 2005 T5 SE is 3 years old this September and I was looking to see what's available for its replacement. I've looked at the V70 range, also the V50 range, but was aghast at the sparse S60 range. The UK web site shows just three cars, two diesels and one petrol. Surely this can't be right, can it? http://www.volvocars.com/uk/All-Cars...s/default.aspx

It might have more to do with the EPA requiring manufacturers to report fuel economy using newer, modern testing. Starting with 2007+ models. Nothing else has changed, ie: the car hasn't changed, only the MPG number they advertise. It was meant to level the playing field for consumers comparing vehicles. Many manufacturers were over-inflating their fuel economy numbers to lure customers in for the sale, only to find out later that they only got 'average' MPG. (Think of the Toyota Prius). Anyway, the newer (lower) numbers reflect what a typical driver can expect. But I bet if you drove a new S60 you would get the same range as your '05.

01_fast_ride I think that perhaps you have missed my point...

I currently get 24mpg in my T5, good or bad that doesn’t bother me. I was looking for a suitable replacement for what I have right now, and the 2008/09 S60 range is pure pants to say the least...

If I remember right, there was at least 5 or 6 different S60's available, ranging from something less than a 2.0ltr, to the type R when I got mine.

But I’m not interested in a 2.0ltr diesel, what I would have liked is a replacement for what I have, maybe if there was an S60 T6, now that would be what I’d go for...

That's why I looked at the V70 T6, but at £35k+ is out of my price range... my other option might be the V50 T5, but the size of the car is something I’d have to check out prior to making that decision...

They've been taking their sweet time getting a replacement out the door. Often when a design is nearing the end of its lifecycle the range of trims gets pruned.
