I Have the factory Tethy? wheels, and I've never had to purchase wheels bigger than 14inch for winter.

Sadly the s60 I've purchased has the original tires, and needs a new set badly, but I don't wanna cheap out with 235/45/17 inch all seasons...I'd rather leave those wheels for a nice set of summer tires, and get a smaller diameter set of winter wheels (volvo perferrably)

I understand that the ratio of tire (thickness) will increase, and I'm ok with that, as I 1. don't wanna mess up the Tethy's, and 2. dont' care about performance driving in winter.

Can anyone help?

really? on tirerack, there's the option for 15 inch wheels?!?!

if so, does this mean I can get a decent set of 15's and throw on some much cheaper all season tires? There's a few people around me with 850 tires and wheel packages for sale for DIRT CHEAP!!! it's a much more cost effective method of getting thru this next winter as opposed to buying 17 inch winter tires!

 

Not sure...it all depends on how much room you have with your caliper.
Volvo offered a 15" rim but it was for the non turbo'd version, and that car might have a smaller caliper...I am not 100% on this.
I know my car has 12" rotors and my 15" rim clears it.
Wait an see what tech or some one else says tomorrow.
