Default 1998 Volvo S70 wrong radio code from dealer ?

I called several dealerships about my S70's radio code. the first time, i used the cars vin number, but that code did not work. the second time i called a different dealer, and he looked up the radio code from the serial number on the radio, the code did not work. the third time i called another dealership, and did the same thing that involved me giving them the serial and part numbers. the code he gave me was the same as the previous dealer, which did not work.

I am running of of ideas, short of going to the dealer or buying a new radio.

Maybe your radio is broke? Not too uncommon. If you like that radio, suggest you ck with the local junkyards; I picked one up for like $25 awhile back.

If you're going to buy new then you'll probably do better with an aftermkt one.

What is on the display? If it says OFF you will have to wait till it resets to enter the code they gave you. Watch this:

When you enter numbers, do they show up on the display as you enter them? After you enter them, does the display flash a message or something?

If it doesn't go to OFF after 3 tries it's broken or the radio is a Frankenstein.

I have a radio you can have if you'd like. It has a bad cd player so, you can send me yours and I can swap over the cd out of it and you can have a working unit.

I actually really like the oem units, but I'm sure a newer unit would be nicer and more trouble free.

Yea, i think im going to get a nice 2 din, with an equalizer. and maybe some decent 6x9's as my left rear speaker rattles and pops. On another note, if i hold 6, and press power, after the radio has been reset to the "CODE" sequence, it will come on for about 5 minutes, but i can only do this once after it resets from the "OFF" Position.
