Hi all any suggestion as to repair the drivers side door check? Door loosely swings open and will crease fender if not repaired previous owner indicated it needed to be welded thanks

If the previous owner indicated it needs welding then it's probably that the mount has cracked and just adding a new check will work for a while, until the whole thing rips out of the door pillar.

This is a typical problem on these, do some searching around, there's a few threads on fixing it.

Mine has the same problem btw. My driver's door was clicking loudly when opened or closed and I thought it was the check, so I bought a new one. After taking it apart, the original check was fine, but the mount in the column has cracked, so putting a new check in won't do a thing. I haven't had time to get it welded yet so I just live with it and remember to keep a hold of the door when I open it.
