My girlfriend is looking into a turboed '01 s40. It's automatic but I do not know what size the engine it is, weather it's t5 or 1.9t, not sure, she doesn't know either.


Any known problems with these cars, and how much do they usually sell for?

All the 2000 - 2004 US spec. S40's and V40's are the 1.9T with automatic.

That looks like a pretty good deal and below the Kelly Blue Book value for private party sale. The 2001 was a split year where there was some redesign in the later half. The front suspension was improved, different transmission (older version had buttons for Economy and Sport vs the newer was adaptive), a few cosmetic changes and a few other minor changes. I am thinking the car you are looking at is the newer version which is good.

Well, she went to go look at it and found out that it wasn't the car she wants, so much for that. I like it though, but not the time to be buying a new car for me.

I think this may be the car I purchased in December. Was the listing for a one owner 2001 S40 with 62k miles? It has all options, automatic, atlantic blue metallic paint, sunroof, and winter driving mode.

Are 2001 S40s good cars? So far I haven't had any problems, but am commuting from southern DE to Northern DE (170 miles roundtrip) 3 times a week and want to make sure I maintain it properly.
