I just purchased a 99 S70 with 139k miles. I anticipate some repairs, but just wondering if there is anything particular about this model/yr/mileage thatI should look out for. I do know that the timing belt was changed at 105, but unfortunately there was no other maintainence records with the vehicle. No warning lights illuminated and all the bells and whistles seemed to work as they should. Engine started right up in the cold, shifted smooth and brakes were tight. My only concern was that there was no inspection sticker on the vehicle. Dealer wil have it inspected and any necessary work done prior to pickup. Havent paid him yet!

Any help would be appreciated. Any referrals for a trustwothy mechanic in the western new york area?

thanks in advance

Plenty of stuff I would check out first hand.

Oil leaks: at turbo return line, lines to radiator. Look at the car carefully underneath.

Check oil cap and look for sludge

Check radiator at upper coolant hose for leaks at the seam of the radiator.

Look at serpentine belt condition

listen for squeaks with radio off over light bumps, shock mounts may be bad. In addition to shocks

Check condition of trans fluid yes there is a yellow dipstick.

check brake pad level and fluid level

PCV, see if it smokes after engine is warm when you take the oil cap off.
