I have a 98 S70 with 180k miles, and I recently changed plugs, wires, and air filter. I got top of the line plugs and bosch wires. I did this because my MIL came up detecting a misfire. Light went out. Went driving on a road trip, MIL came on about 60. Got to my location, checked it, misfire in every cylinder except 1. Checked the wires, no issue. Could this be my ignition coil or my distributor cap? Dist cap and ignition coil are original never changed. Keep in mind I dont have a ton of money to spend on these things for college so what would be my best option

 

I would definitely look at the cap and rotor with it being original, and 100+ miles on it.

 

Id bet money on your cap and rotor. All ignition components minus the coil should be replaced, not just the plugs and wires!

 

Hi LilBubbles, welcome to the forum.

These cars are finicky about the ignition parts. I only use:
- Plugs = Volvo
- Wires = Boungie
- Cap = Bosch
- Rotor = Bosch.

 

Again, what rspi said.

And if you still have a misfire I would ck the engine compression.
