My hood release cable broke and I'm unable to open the hood. Is there a way to do this from the outside, manually? Doubly screwed, as my battery is dead and I'm unable to just take it to a shop; one of the many drawbacks of living in -40c weather.

At any rate, detailed instructions as to how this can be done would be greatly appreciated.

Probably the same as the 850 models. Check the 850 section and see if you find your help. Are you sure the cable is broken? Sometimes you can press down on the hood and have someone pull the release and let it go.

 

My cable is not broken but there is a special procedure to opening my hood:

1. Pull hood release lever under dash. Walk to passenger side of hood. Pull up on hood.

2. Walk back and pull release lever under dash again. Walk to driver side of hood. Pull up on hood.

3. Finally, pull up on hood release located under the hood and now the hood is open.
