99 S70 Starting Problems
99 S70 Non-turbo--142K miles. We are original owners and have had intermittent problems since we bought the car. The car will not start. I have had it into the Volvo dealer a number of times (the first was at 27K miles) as well as other foreign car care places. It was finally diagnosed a couple of years ago as a problem with the ECM/ETS. The shop said I had to take it to the dealer to have it replaced, but cleaned the throttle and it seemed to help. When the 10year/200K mile warrnty extension came out, I took it back to the dealer. They claimed to have upgraded some software, but refused to do anything with the ETS/ECM because there were no codes. If I wanted additional diagnostics to determine if the ETS/ECM was bad, I would have to pay for them. Another mechanic changed the fuel filter, which seemed to help for a while, but now the car will not start again. I use premium gas. Is there anyway I can get the dealer to be more responsive??
When you say it won't start does it just crank over like it is dead?
Does it start and stall?
You would have to have a good scanner or Good program on a laptop to help figure it out now.
Do you have a different key you can use to try to start it?
I think you might have something with the immoblizer not allowing it to start.
