I've got a '98 S70 GLT and I'm planning to replace the turbo control valve this week since I'm off on Spring Break. It sounds a bit straightforward, but is there anything I should know/be wary of?

 

Same here. Got a 0243 code and need to change the tcv. Where did you order your part from.

 

My dad got it from ipd. My dad and I are changing it for routine maintenance/because we want to...I have the code for an EVAP leak...which we're also going to deal with.

 

It is as straight foward as it looks. Swap one hose at a time.

Another question tech....Ipd recommends a boost gauge with the tcv. Do I really need to buy the boost gauge. I would like to have but moneys tight and i just want the car to run.

 

I'm not sure if ipd's is better...but I've found ipd to be very reliable.

 

Yea I just order the Ipd tcv. Never had a bad experience with them and I trust their products so I order the tcv, 3 clamps and 7 ft of hosing.

How much did the tcv cost you? Ipd website says $89.00 but they only charged me $67.00 for it?

 

I honestly have no idea. My dad got the TCV for me for my birthday.

 

If you really want a boost guage there is better looking ones than the IPD ones.
I hate the looks of the VDO one.

 

OK so I installed my Tcv from Ipd and it wasn't to bad. Took me about 2 hours...I also replaced the hoses with the ipd silicon hose. It wasn't to hard but the hose on the turbo compresser was a PITA. It took me about an hour to get that piece on and it would have been easier if I had a lift but I dont. So overall pretty easy just that one hose was hard.
