Check engine oil - DUH

Check engine oil - DUH

How do I read the engine oil dipstick? All I see are "x's".

Help a simple housewife with a clueless husband. Woe is us.

From:

anywhere within the area marked with "x's" is "operational. its preferable that your oil level be about the middle of the X's

It's best to check the oil when the motor has been off for about 3 minutes. Here is a link to the Volvo site where you can register your car with Volvo and look at your owners manual.
