has anyone ever done a custom intake to their car..
preferably a n/a s70...
or does anyone have a picture of what it looks like..
also what tools do i need to install a custom intake or just to put it on the MAF..
and what do i do with the connecting tubes that or on the air box.. do i leave them there or take them out?

 

You'll need a torx screw driver to take the MAF out of the airbox housing. I forget if it is a T10 or T25 torx driver.

 

what do i do to the other tubes? remove them or leave them there

 

I'd have to see a picture. But if it is the tube I think you talking about you will need to add a tiny breather filter on the end of it.

"Some 1998 models had a Secondary Air System (SAS) used to reduce emissions. The SAS system normally draws it's air supply from the factory air filter box. yea mine has that.. but if i add the cone filter to the MAF cant i just keep it open and remove the top of the air filter box?

 

If you have SAS then you need to place a small filter shown above in the tube that connects to the airbox. Yes you remove the top of the airbox. But I assume there is a tube attached to that fitting in the top of the airbox which can be removed (The tube that is) and then a filter needs to be placed on the end of that tube.

 

im a little confused...the back of my air filter looks different. im trying to do the custom intake as well and im not sure what to do with the two things in the back....mine is a 2000 s70 base

 

I believe those are sensors of some sort. TECH will be able to elaborate.

 

you think it will cause a problem if they are removed?

 

Don't do anything until you talk to TECH about it. Mine didn't have those, so I want him to check it out.

 

One of those hoses goes to the Valve in the air box that directs the hot or cold air into the air box.

The second one just goes to the intake. Not exactly sure why they have it there.
I would remove it and cap the port and see what happens.

 

the one that goes back to the box (the top black one)...just remove that?

and cap off the bottom white one?

 

When you remove the airbox the line will come with it.

Exactly as it sounds. Cap the port. Meaning put something over it to cover the hole that is in it.

like putting a cork in a wine bottle. Cap it.

 

Or remove the hose from the intake and put a rubber cap over the port you remove the hose from.
