Default Dash Noise

Hi im new here and i purchased a 1998 Volvo S70 n/a around 2 months ago now this is sort of difficult to explain but sometimes when im driving and i hit a bump or even when im jus driving on a smooth road i hear this loud niose coming from the dash. It sounds as if a small rock just hit my windshield and it happens once in a while. Im in Canada and it gets really cold sometimes up here could it be the dash plastic making that niose because of the temp change from really cold to warm when i drive? or something else.. also the car has 188 000 km.

Any advice or ideas are geatly apreciated btw great forum already leanred from searching around why my steering wheel squeaks

Alot of times the Dash mountings break. Then they move and squeek alot.

You might have to have the dash removed and repaired.

Is the noise a loud tick that repeats every few seconds and then goes away once the car is warmed?

satchmodog - yes the noise is a loud tick but it does not happen every few seconds and it happens even when the car is warm. I drive the car everyday and it will happen a few times a week but not everytime and not one loud tick after the other

Tech - Where are the dash mount located and its not really a squeeky sound just a loud tick or crack.

Thx agian

You will have to remove the wiper cowl to get to the mounting screws.

Also try pulling and pushing on the dash and see if it moves on you.
