Default Engine Issue

Hey ladies and gents, been frequent user of this site, however never had to post a question until now. I have a 1998 s70 T5 5 speed with about 107k miles on it. The check engine light just recently came up. I changed the oil and filter less than a thousand miles ago with a synthetic. Timing belt changed just recently. However I have noticed that sporadically, I mean once in a blue moon, when I am sitting idle at a stop light the engine seems to turn over heavy for a second, seems like knocking to me. I have yet to really look into it and see if it happens all the time or just right after the car is started. Any ideas on wha could be the cause to this? Lookin for tech's input, but any and all would be appreciated.

Thanks
Zach

Just have the code pulled. That will give you the answer or atleast aid in the finding of the problem. By knocking do you mean the revs drop low? Also, did this happen at all before the above mentioned repairs?

FYI if it helps I am just using mid grade fuel. The engine revs at idle drop down and the engine turns over heavy it seems for a cycle with a clunk. All this happened after the above mentioned tune ups.

Hey Tech, I did use all OEM parts for the aforementioned repairs. I am getting the code pulled tomorrow morning, so hopefully tha will shed some light onto this situation. Also is $30 reasonable for getting the code pulled? Finally, I couldn't post a response to this in mozilla firefox, only could when i switched to explorer. wierd.
cheers,
zach
