All of a sudden, the engine (idling or driving) surges and stalls. Gets worse by the hour. What should our friendly rookie mechanic check out? Regular oil changes, gas tank is full, new fuel filter. Happened all of a sudden. Morning trip in the car was just fine. Started it up in the afternoon and the problems began. Thanks.

 

Check engine light on?
Maybe the fuel pump or relay is going bad.

 

Mechanic says it's a vacuum sensor, just in case anyone searches for the same problem in the future. If it turns out the problem is something else, I will post again. And "tech," yes, the "check engine" light was on.
