Leaky cam seal. Can i use silicone gasket to fix?
Hey quick question. I just pulled my cap and rotor off and i noticed a little oil leaking from my cam seal going into the distributor housing. I'm pretty sure this is from my pcv system being clogged, which im fixing right now.
Can i use some high temperature oil resistant gasket in a tube to fix this slow leak? It doesent look like its leaking very bad, i thought maybe if i just put some black silicone around the edge of the cam seal it would plug up where its leaking.
Is this a bad idea? It seems like a pretty simple fix, i dont want to have to go replace the cam seals honestly.
Thanks.

Unfortunately i dont really have the time to order a seal. Its barely weeping oil into the rotor distributor housing. Will some high temp gasket sealer hold for a while? I'm going on a trip and just need a temporary fix for that cam seal. Of course this is just a last minute problem i noticed before i go on a long distance road trip[:@]. Am i better off just leaving it untill i get back from my trip and getting a seal? It looks like its just weeping at the bottom of the rubber seal so i doubt it would take much to plug it up...
Thanks Tech.
Thanks Tech.
if its not a bad leak ide just wait till you can do it right so when you do finally do it your not trying to get that danm gasket sealer out of there, that stuffs a pain in the *** sometimes, working on small engines thats all i use, low pressure and low temp motors, works good.
just watch how much oil its leaking, to much oil loss and kiss that motor goodbye
