Default Moving gear shift out of park

I'm having trouble (at times) getting the gear shift on my 98 S70 out of park. I sit for 2 to 4 minutes waiting on a "click" so I can move it out of park. Is this a brake pedal sensor problem or gear shift problem? Am I going to get stranded at some point - never being able to get it out of park?? Thanks!

You will always be able to get it out of park. You have the shiftlock override button you can push.

It could be many things. Electrical part of the ignition switch,Brake pedal switch, shiftlock micro switch, ETC

mine does that all teh time, except its a problem wiht teh keyswitch. For some reason ro antoher when i start the car none of the electrical works, the lights are not on, nothing, and I cant get it to shift unless I hit teh overide. Anyways to solve this problem, one I turn the car on i just tilt the key back very slightly(as if your going to tunr the car off, except just a tap) and everything turns on and works. It doesnt do it all teh time, but when it does I know what to do!
