No dash backlighting in DRL Mode

1998 S70 GLT.
The dash has no backlighting in DRL mode but does in the manual settings of Parking lights & Headlight settings.

Is the selector switch bad or is it something else?

Except at night....the entire dash is dark.

Why are you using DRL's at night instead of the normal headlights? DRL's only operate at 70% or so of normal power.......Use the regular headlights at night.
