No more power.

No more power.
I have owned a 98 S70 base model for around one year now,I have always had the oil changes done at the right time but otherwise I have been pretty slow on other service intervals,Primarily due to financial reasons.
I work at a small engine shop doing riding mowers and such so I have some decent mechanical insight on things but have never really done anything with cars.
At the shop when we have a surplus in gas from them being sucked out before delivery I would sometimes take a 5 gallon can and dump it into the car, figured i'll save some money where I can,Well this is where it all starts to go downhill
That evening coming home I drove around 50 miles with no problems but as soon as leaving the highway the car didn't feel right,I could not quite put my finger on it untill I took a corner, the car nearly died (fuel gauge around 1/5) but managed to come back to life,it just kept repeating it's self and got worse,It sounded awful and had absolutely no power to it,died going uphill once but managed to come back to life I nursed it to the gas station a few miles away.(downhill thankfully) Threw some more fuel in the car, knowing something was in the "fuel" I dumped in at work, got home and ran it in the drive way for a long long time, Drove around a little close to home and it all seemed to be fine.
The next few days the car seemed to be really slow but I figured I was being paranoid because of the bad fuel, but now nearly 2 months later the car never recovered, seems to have no power through any RPM range and is considerably slower by about 2x to 60MPH.
Looking for advice on where to start looking first as I have a very limited budget. My first thought it the fuel filter but I can't seem to find it? thanks.

It's on the passenger side in the general vicinity of the rear door if memory serves.
