Smile Rear Shocks Brand Replacement Suggestion & Turbo Gasket?

99 S70 T-5 with only 97K miles - I've been told that my rear shocks are leaking - does anyone have a suggestion as to a decent brand of replacement shocks?

Also, is replacing the gasket for the turbo charger a fairly simple procedure overall? I was told that this was leaking a little as well - not badly yet, but I want to get it taken care of quickly for obvious reasons....

Thanks so much!

My mechanic says it will take him about 1 hour to do it but 2 hours conservatively. Do you know where to get the turbo seal? Havent had much luck finding it.

As far as shocks/struts go, I just put Monroe on my S70 and I'm happy. Its a 2000 with 164k miles. I guess it just depends on how you drive it.

Hi there and yes, I do have a turbo seal from a buddy of mine who works at a dealer in Florida who is sending it to me - it's only about $6.00, so pretty cheap, (& he said it wouldn't take very long at all, but then he knows what he is doing too).

Thanks for the suggestion of Monroe - I'll check into them - sure appreciate it!

If you just want comfort and durability go with Boge Sachs, oem for the s70, I found a pair of front ones on ebay for $160.00 with shipping to PR ( front are a lot more expensive)
Check what brand do you have in front.
Bilsteins TC are good a bit firm for our roads.
Monroe sensa trac are "plusher" but if you can change them yourself, some with warranty ( some places lifetime)

On the turbo, which gasket? The oil return one?
I just changed mine and took me about 20 minutes, including the seal that goes into the oil pan.

The oil return gasket is about a buck something, as well as the seal ( I bought them at the local dealer and they had them at $6.00 each, $4.00 with discount)

You will need a long 5.5 mm allen socket to make life simple.

I havent had a chance to get into it much but standing over the engine looking down, there is a lot of oil buildup where the intercooler feed meets the turbo. There is like a rubber hose coupling there with a lot of oil buildup on it.

I did not have much oil on that area, some gunk, but nothing major, clean that gunk up but first look at the right side of that rubber hose and check for gunk near the plastic tube, theres a rubber hose and the PTC valve, if theres a lot of build up check and clean the PTC valve ( i remember all this cause I had an ongoing thread trying to find out exactly which was the culprit at MVS)

Those are things that you will need to address, no matter what, but if its such as drip as you claim in your original post, I bet is from the return tube under the car, you cant see the leak from above. Let me get a couple shots so you have a better pic.

The turbo oil return tube , gaske and seal ( the round end goes into the oil pan) # 29,30,31

The tube goes underneath the turbo # 14

This is what the turbo oil return looks like without the tube ( remember that its underneath) what you can see from atop are the coolant banjos
