Default replaced seat belt holder now SRS light on ?

99 s70 T5. the part of the seat belt system on the driver side that locks the belt in when your buckled was worn and my belt kept coming unlatched so I finally installed the one I had picked up from yard .

there is a wire connected to these things but I just unhooked the connector and then spliced the replacement piece's wire into the original wire and plugged it back it.

Now the SRS light is on. I did swap the wires thinking maybe they were specific but that changed nothing.

any ideas? I could live with the light on but rather not. i think this is a little over sensitive .

strange thing is the car has never beeped or done anything when the belt is not connected or comes unhooked before.

The 2 overhead lights come on when car is first started then they go off.

I would figure I would get some annoying warning bell or something if my belt was not connected on a car like this . not that I want to be pestered by bells and buzzers.

anyhow. I really need to know if I can make it go away or maybe I need to get a different belt piece? the car I got it from was a s70 also

Volvo's seat belt system is part of the air bag system. You are suppose to disconnect the battery and wait 30 minutes before you do any air bag or seat belt work on the car. You will likely have to go to a Volvo shop to have the light reset.
