Default rotor alignment pin snapped off

I put new rotors on the S70. One of the alignment pins broke off. I did the usual, PB Blaster and drill through the center of the stud that was left. No go on getting the stud out.

I put the rotor on and the wheel is holding it in place just fine. The rubber on the brake hose is cracked throuhg to the graid so I am waiting on that tos show up and do the brake job all over again.

The point.... Has anyone had to remove one of these before and how did you get through it. I used my extraction tool with no luck. I am tempted to leave it permantently off. I know re-tapping it would likely not get it properly aligned between the hole for the rotor, stud holes and the axle.

You can leave it, it won't hurt anything

the bolt is just to hold the rotor on when the wheels are off. when you tighten the wheel to the hub the boltpretty much serves no purpose.

For some strange reason that pin goes into a certain slot in the wheel. Does that matter? Why do they want the wheel to go on one certain way?

I would leave it.

I agree rspi. I can't find a legit reason, but I can say that its a lot easier to put the wheel on with the pin in place. It's a pain to line up the bolt holes.

I thought about using heat but I am thinking that would not work out well the wheel bearing. I've drilled out as much as I feel safe without getting to the threads. It broke off almost flush with the axle so I have little to tap against with a punch. I'll work on it some more when the parts come in. I still have to locate a pin - maybe the dealer.

Sure, it makes it easier to put the wheel on without the rotor moving, but it really isn't that hard. Line up the rotor, put the wheel on and bolt it up. The wheel bolts will hold everything.

If you really feel the need to spend more time drilling it out and tapping it, you can use any bolt. You don't need the pin. All it does is hold the rotor to the hub while the wheel is off.
