Default S70 Check Engine

2000 S70 - Over the past week I have had the ABS light come on while driving only to reset itself after the car sat for a couple of hours. Two days later the check engine light came on and reset after the car sat for a day. The light came on again this evening and I used a generic OBDII reader to pull a P1671 code. This may be a shot in the dark with a generic code, but any ideas what might throw this code?

This is the 3rd check-engine light I have had in the last 6 months (others were due to vacuum hose leak and coil pack replacement). I thought I would try the forum for input before forking over more $$ for repairs.

Default RE: S70 Check Engine

Checking this site (which has been recommended for OBDII codes in the past) produced no results for Volvo... http://www.iequus.com/support/obd2_definitions.php
Sorry.

However, I have read plenty of threads saying that if the ABS module is going bad, the ABS light will come and go periodically. Also, it can throw a CEL. I'm not sure what code would be expected from that, but I'm sure one of the wiser members will be able to help you out.

Default RE: S70 Check Engine - UPDATE

Thanks for the reply. I took the car in yesterday to a certified Volvo mechanic. He read the codes using VADIS and suggested that the error codes point to an issue with the Electronic Throttle Assembly. He reset theCELfree of charge and suggested that I take it to the dealer if it comeson again (which it has). He explained(and I have read some) about the class action suit to replace this unitfor free on carsw/ less than 200K. I will do some research before taking this in, but wanted to provide an update in the event that others receive a similar OBD code P1671.
