s70 not starting
my 2000 Stock S70 (non-turbo) does not start. I know the battery is good (horn, lights work, all accessories work). I think the starter is bad. Car has 80K on it. It seems to not crank just a contant miss. I was going to buy one tomorrow and replace myself. From what I read so far I can access it from the top without taking out fan. Can anyone help me diaginose this better and if you agree I should replace any tips on installation.
Thanks

Use a test light to check for power at the small wire on the starter when the key is in the start position.
If you have power the starter is bad. If you do not have power then it is something else.

I am new to this forum and I am having a similar problem with my '98 S70. I bought it knowing its ignition key would sometimes rotate all around. The shop (non-Volvo or even European) said it was just the lock assembly. I have been trying to find a used lock assembly, but have not had any luck. The main problem now is it wont start. I drove it home, they used a screw driver to turn the electrical part of the ignition. When I got home, 30 mile drive and turned it off and than came back out to start it, a couple of minutes, the car would not start. The lights come on on the dash and I can hear some hum-type of noise, but no cranking sound. We did check the starter and it appears we are not getting power to the starter. I did not do anything to the car from what they had already done. Is there an engine immobilizer on this car or would this even be a problem since they were able to start it without the key. I would appreciate any ideas. I have read (I think) all of the posts on s70 starting problems and I am not quite sure where to go now.
