Default S70 T5 - hwy vs city mpg

I have a 1998 S70 T5, and I've always been curious about my mpg. For local driving, which is mainly in the city with driving up/down a hill to go home, I get 20mpg. However, when I drive 100 miles of just freeway, I can get 32mpg.

Is this large difference normal?

Don't have a T5, but low to mid 20's is pretty normal in city for these cars; especially if a lot of hills and such.

But 32 mpg on hwy is frikking great; esp for a T5! I am lucky to get in the high 20s on the freeway with my 850 NA (could have something to do with the way i drive though..).

I have a 98 S70 T5 and i get about 18-20 city and about 26-28 hwy depending on how I drive. I am happy with that and really helps out on the commute.

In city/urban areas I get low 20's and on the highway I get 31-32 if the car is not packed for vacation.

If I hypermile I can get extended periods of driving in the high 30's low 40's - Although that kind of driving gets my spouse on edge.
